Dr. Banwar graduated from the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune, India. He completed his internship in Calcutta, and then came to the University of Rochester for a two-year residency in general surgery. He completed his orthopedic residency in 1985 at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dr. Banwar joined Dr. Nowbar in practice at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic in 1985 and has continued his practice in orthopaedics at Clifton Springs Hospital.
Dr. Banwar joined Interlakes Orthopaedic Surgery in 2001. He also has privileges at Geneva General Hospital and Newark Wayne Community Hospital.
Dr. Banwar is especially interested in adult reconstructive surgery, including knee and hip replacement surgeries. He also performs arthroscopic procedures of the knee, shoulder and ankle on a regular basis.
Dr. Banwar is Medical Director of the Joint Replacement Center at Clifton Springs Hospital. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, and became a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 1993. Additionally he is a member of the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Ontario County Medical society, the Medical Society of the state of New York and the American medical Association.
Dr. Banwar maintains an active studio in painting and collages, he is an avid bibliophile, skier and bicyclist; and enjoys flying cross-country as an instrument rated pilot. And participating in the Angel Flight program providing free air transportation for any legitimate, charitable, medically related need.
